Jackson is Mississippi's capital city, named after former U.S. President Andrew Jackson, and has a population of about 160,600. About 82% of its residents are African American. Andrew Jackson was the seventh president, serving from 1829 to 1837. In addition to owning enslaved people, he also oversaw the forced migration of Native Americans in which many died. His face is on the $20 bill.
