The United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) created, funded, and promoted the installation of over 400 monuments promoting the “cult of the lost cause.” A false narrative that promotes the idea that the pro-slavery Confederate army was fighting for a noble cause. They have even gone as far as distributing literature claiming that Slaves were eager and willing to be exploited. A concept rendered completely ridiculous by the true history of abuse, indignity, and terror suffered by enslaved African peoples.
